CNA Annual Conference 2024: Foundations for Success

PTAG is proud to be a Silver Sponsor for the Canadian Nuclear Association’s (CNA) Annual Conference in Ottawa, February 28 – March 1.

Canada is set to rapidly expand its nuclear sector in both existing and new markets, built on a foundation of growing government and public support. However, long-term success depends on the industry amplifying successful initiatives and actions, anticipating future needs and emerging challenges, and aligning across borders to enable efficient scaling and rapid deployment. The sector will need to take full advantage of a range of opportunities including capitalizing on and building human talent, fostering public and private financing, accelerating research and innovation, forging meaningful and lasting Indigenous partnerships, and ensuring future fuel supply.

For the nuclear industry to fully realize these opportunities and ensure nuclear can play an even more fundamental role in Canada’s clean energy future, cooperation and coordination are more important than ever. At CNA2024, we will highlight the ways in which the sector can work together and with partners to build the foundations for success.

As part of PTAG’s long-term industry commitment to support more new and young people joining the Nuclear industry, we will be leading two initiatives during the conference:

  • Already underway, we have designed and are delivering 8 sessions that help the nearly 100 students attending the conference make the most of the experience as they meet potential employers for the first time
  • In collaboration with Ontario Tech University’s TALENT group, we have designed and will facilitate the speed dating format “Talent Collider,” which brings those new to the industry with Senior Executives

CNA Annual Conference 2023

PTAG is proud to be a Silver Sponsor for the Canadian Nuclear Association’s (CNA) Annual Conference in Ottawa from February 22 to 24.

We’ll be excited to discuss this year’s theme, “Canada’s Global Leadership” with some of the world’s leading nuclear industry professionals.

“Strengthening Canada’s role as a global leader in nuclear technology and innovation.”

Canadian nuclear energy is enjoying a surge of momentum not seen in over a decade. New projects are being announced and financed. The public is increasingly supportive of nuclear power. The promise of nuclear energy for meeting Canada’s energy and climate goals, as well as its international market opportunities, is increasingly understood by governments at all levels.

As part of PTAG’s long-term industry commitment to support more new and young people joining the Nuclear industry, PTAG will be leading two initiatives during the conference:

  • Already underway, we have designed and are delivering 8 sessions that help the nearly 100 students attending the conference make the most of the experience as they meet potential employers for the first time
  • In collaboration with Ontario Tech University’s TALENT group, we have designed and will facilitate the speed dating format “Talent Collider,” which brings those new to the industry with Senior Executives

PTAG’s Partner at Bachra Memorial Golf Tournament fundraiser event for Markham Stouffville Hospital ICU Beds.

On August 20th, 2021, Markham Stouffville Hospital Foundation’s Board Chair Bill Bachra and his family held a memorial golf tournament to commemorate his late father who passed away 30 years ago. This event seemed like a perfect way to honor him and to recognize MS Hospital for its service.

With the support from friends and business associates of Bill and his family, $225,000 was raised for the purchase of 4 beds for the Intensive Care Unit of Oak Valley Health’s MS Hospital. This comes at a time when our health infrastructure needs a boost. Such community-driven initiatives are building blocks for the betterment of our community not only in terms of raising money for a cause but also bringing people together.

“Considering the current state of ICU beds, and the strain on our health care system due to the pandemic, the effort and fundraising efforts by the Bachra family was greatly appreciated. It was a pleasure to be part of such a well-run and worthy cause.” Chris Deidun – PTAG’s Partner for Business Development.

PTAG team delivers a number of great assists volunteering alongside fellow nuclear supply chain colleagues at the Peel “Hockey Hub” Mass Vaccination Site.

Bruce Power and a coalition of organizations, unions and businesses came together to establish the hub in collaboration with the Region of Peel to provide the region greater capacity to deliver more vaccines in the race against the COVID-19 variants. Bruce Power also supported the establishment of three Hockey Hubs operated by the Grey Bruce Health Unit.

The region of Peel is a COVID-19 hotspot and home to several of our PTAG staff. Being committed to serving the communities in which we work, PTAG staff stepped up to volunteer at the Peel site, offloading logistics tasks from the stretched Health Care workers.
